But Google results show you more than just the answers to your queries. If you scroll further, you may see the list of questions after your search result.

What is an FAQ?

Frequently asked questions or FAQs contain questions and their answers related to the searched topic. These FAQ search results, if incorporated appropriately into your content, will provide you more clicks and more organic visitor traffic. It will also boost internal link-building, which is a crucial search ranking factor.

The question now arises that how you can display your FAQ in the Google results. This article will give you an insight into how you can link the Google FAQ search to your website and maximise the chances of visitor traffic.

How to display FAQ in Google FAQ search results?

If you are writing SEO content, you will have to communicate with the visitor and the Google bot both. Showing Google bot that you are the master in your industry will help you increase your rankings in Google search results and Google FAQ search. Creating a good FAQ search is always a good idea to connect with both ‘audiences’.

If you are confused about getting started, grab a coffee and follow this guide.

FAQ Snippets-An introduction

Before moving further, there are two terms you need to know to understand the next procedure easily.

Structured Data: It is the data created using a fixed schema, usually using an organised tabular format. Structured data is documented and supported by a community called schema.org. It is an additional code that is likely to be a JSON-LD code that webmasters incorporate in their pages, which will provide more information to Google about the page’s content.

Rich Snippets: these are the snippets that provide a higher rate of click-through. Following the structured data, they are the enhanced snippets of the pages displayed in the search results.

So if you want the FAQ in Google search results, then there are two ways you can follow.

  • Create an HTML FAQ and write questions and answers for the visitors.
  • Create a JSON-LD code to get the structured data implemented for the Googlebot.

We are targeting both the visitors and Google bots at the same time, and the result will be website highlighted in the Google FAQ search results because GoogleBot indexes the page containing both the FAQ and JSON-LD markup.

For Google to display the HTML FAQ snippets, it is mandatory to have the schema markup. However, to be visible to the visitors, Google also requires FAQs.

Why is it essential to implement FAQs with structured data?

Some copywriting and technical work are essentially required to implement the FAQ with schema and make it displayed in the search results. You may question why you should invest resources and time in adding FAQs to your pages. The simple answer is you can get a positive impact not only on your SEO but also on your UX.

To maximise content for Google bot:

If you’ll add the FAQs to your pages, that means you have more content Google bot to scan so that it can understand your targeted topic better.

Google does not merely require adding the repeat the keywords multiple times to rank your site, but also it will rank your site according to the answer you have about the research. This is why it is vital to provide the best answer. Adding FAQs will help Google bot recognise your page as having the richer content, and thus this will improve your ranking by proposing your site as the more relevant page related to the research.

Less user clicks

The lesser the clicks for the user, the better your site impression will be. Would you want to send away the user to click the FAQ written on another page that otherwise will be easily searched on the page they were browsing? It will be better to provide the user with the right amount of information before leaving the page.

Better Click through Rate

Implementation of the structured data means that your page is going to have more rich-snippets. This will make the link to your website more appealing and eventually result in more (CTR).

This provides your page with rich-snippets and gives the potential reader the first idea of your expertise; the reader will then be encouraged to click on your site rather than your competitor.

What type of FAQs should I write on my pages?

First things, first! Writing down the questions and their answers first will be useful to the readers and enhance your SEO strategy. How to identify the questions for you to answer? There are many ways:

Review the FAQs your competitor sites are proposing to their users.

You can use Google keyword planner that will highlight the questions that you can answer.
Consider using tools like ‘also asked’ or ‘answer the public’ to get the data about questions asked about the particular topic.
The simplest way is to check the questions in Google’s search result page that says, “people also ask’.

There are some points you can follow to make your FAQ catchier.

  • Use data and tools to get an idea about what users search and write questions and answers accordingly.
  • While writing FAQs, make sure that you stay relevant to the topic and according to your SEO target.
  • Try to implement a minimum of four questions because Google displays a ‘show more’ option after the third one.
  • Google displays a maximum of 10 FAQs, so write according to this limit.
  • If you wish to implement the code manually, then use HTML formatting in the code.
  • Do not use the markup for coloured images or texts in the search results because Google will not display the coloured information in the search results.
  • If the answers contain more than 175 words, then Google will automatically mark ‘more’. This limit is set by Google taking into consideration the pixels of the display.
  • To get the users to get in touch directly, don’t forget to add a link to page# two or page#3.
